I just want to say that LaneTea and I are officially burnt out. We've been burnt out for awhile. The feeling momentarily left us during the iOMG hype, but soon went away the second we saw the promo for the new episode this season. The fact is this: we have family, friends, and jobs outside of iCarly. We actually missed one of our friend's birthday celebrations because of iOMG.
This is it now though. I don't want to take anymore time away from the people we care about, because I know this probably happened on more than one occasion. I'm tired of planning my life around iCarly. It's not fair to me and LaneTea and it's not fair to our friends and family. The truth is, thinking about doing videos for episodes like "iLost My Mind" had only been making me sick both emotionally and physically. This only got worse when people had been asking me why we hadn't done a video yet, even though I'd taken the time to explain why.
The fact is, I'm almost 26 years old I have a life outside of iCarly. This is not saying I'm too old for iCarly, but I feel I'm too old to be dedicating this kind of time to it. Time that can be better spent doing fun things with LaneTea (besides making videos) and other friends and family.
Honestly, we both have many things we'd love to say about the episode and how we really feel. However, there will be very few of you who would actually hear us out and take what we say into consideration. And just to make it clear, we aren't looking for people to follow us in our movement or even agree with us. We never wanted to ruin the show for someone who truly enjoyed it, and we still don't. The fact is, many of you have your own ideas of how all Seddiers should feel at the moment and tend to shun anyone or anything that takes the light off that shinning moment. Which is completely understandable. We're glad people are excited, LaneTea and I just aren't one of those people. We have our own ideas of how we'd like to see things, and always will. You can complain that we should like the show for what it is. Truth be told, we probably will enjoy the show more now that we don't have to do videos.
All this is not saying that we don't want anything to do with iCarly or the fandom. This is just stating that the videos are going to cease from here on out.
With all this said, we'd like to thank everyone who had supported us during this wild ride. It does mean a lot to us that so many people had enjoyed our videos. Thank You for the support, and as always ROCK ON MIGHTY SEDDIE WARRIORS!!!
SarcasticLeaves, both you and LaneTea, as well as SeddieMania, were my inspiration when I got started in the fandom. If there is anyone who deserves credit for my status of "celebrity" in the fandom (still don't know who came up with that), those people are you. You will always have a fan in me, but most importantly, you'll have a friend, who's ready to listen, and make a few jokes out of the situation, if requested. To end this huge post, thank you. But that doesn't cut it. So. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR WHAT YOU'VE GIVEN ME!!

I am glad that you aren't giving up on the Fandom all together (I was scared I'd never talk to you again) I would just like to take this chance to say that your videos were brilliant in every way Possible. I re-watch them whenever I'm in need of a happiness boost. :D

I would also like to say that I really value our friendship. I love talking to you about anything random (Star wars, Avatar etc.) When I won the FanArt portion of yours and LaneTea's Seddie contest all that time ago, it was during a time where I was really down and doubtful about a lot of things. Winning gave me a huge moral boost! I have the Prize on my wall opposite my bed, So every day I wake up and see it, It makes me feel positive about the day ahead. (I'd put :hug: but that doesn't work on this site XD)
I'd just like to say thank you again, to both you and LateTea. And I hope We can still talk about randomness on deviantART. Eveytime I upload a new picture, my day brights up when your comment arrives.

ReplyDeleteYou both have helped greatly in the fandom and we all appreciate that, some noteworthy things I remember were the idea that Creddie needed to happen before Seddie which helped us all prepare and get through iSaved Your Life; helping us spread the Making Purple Theory to plenty of audience; and just plain being enthusiastic and keeping us excited for Seddie and the show and make us laugh. ReplyDeleteAlthough I've never signed up for the Seddie Wiki, I have always been checking out the comments and stuff, so I know that you guys are really famous in this "Seddie Circle". I would like to say that even though I've fallen in love with Seddie ever since I watched the first episode of iCarly, you guys were the ones who actually made me feel that my obsession with Seddie wasn't abnormal.
Also, when I first saw your videos, I was really amazed at how imaginative and creative fans can be and I mean it in a good way. You guys were awesome in the entire process of making the videos. My mind was totally open to the new ideas that you guys introduced and I was really anticipating each and every episode after watching your speculations.
I feel really sad and disappointed that you guys are no longer making those videos anymore, but I understand what you guys are trying to say. Even though we are all enthusiastic Seddie shippers, we also have to have our own lives and I respect your courage to bring this matter up.

Don´t worry @SarcasticLeaves, a lot of us understand you and LameTea, it's not fair for both of u, to make videos only as an imposition, more than a hobby or something you really like, people grow, and with time, if you keep doing things only as a routine or a shore, you can't simply make them right,.. i really appreciate all the hard work, excellent drawing, and the comic reviews that you two have given us for all this time,.. keep it up..(as the matter of fact your unique kind of been, has even make cast from iCarly, like Nathan, knew you exist!!!,.. and thats saying a lot!!)...well, i wish both of you, the best of luck in the word, and thanks for everything!!!

ReplyDeleteBut yeah I get you. I am 20 going on 21. Like you, I just find shipping so much fun. iCarly shipping happened accidentally (largely because of your videos BTW!).
It is something you do for *fun*. It isn't serious. You are just having fun, like with any other interest or hobby. Its cute and squeeeee.
But thats it, you know? Like, people are actually getting upset at outcomes not going their way. Like, really? It is a show. And it is fun to speculate. Its just that, fun. Its not serious business. People are allowed to have DIFFERENT OPINIONS.
I really like shipping but I feel so embarassed because, particularly in the iCarly fandom, people actually get obsessed and a little insane. Heh.
I will miss your videos. I always felt like I could point to you guys and go, "look, for-fun shippers who aren't serious and embrace different opinions and light-heartedness!" and they were always brilliantly funny. They were really funny. You should feel proud of the ones you made :)

ReplyDeleteI just watched your iOMG review, which had me grinning widely throughout, and then found this link. I would say that I completely understand and support your decision - but it doesn't really matter what I think. Fandom is ridiculously fun at times, but in the end it's a community built around fiction and fantasy and *no one's* opinion should really matter when it comes to your personal decisions.

I feel like my childhood is officially over. You and your videos have been such a strong constant in my life for so long... and now it's over. I support your decision COMPLETELY, but it still seems bitter sweet, really. I guess all endings do.

First, I turn on nickelodeon after a while of not watching it to learn the writers of icarly broke sam and freddie up. Now,in the middle of the night,i remembered your youtube channel and looked it up and i was sad to see it was like a ghost town. So i visit your blog to learn that this has also come to an end. It is sad to not only see one of my first biggest ships destroyed but to also see two of the most famous "seddiers" as wikia calls you, move on before the end of seddie itself. Alas, we all must grow up at one point and it seems that it is time for alot of icarly fans to do so too since the show is now on the 5th season and will most likely come to an end. It was a nice ride on the seddie ship with you. Good luck in whatever your future has in store.
